Mac and Cheese is the all-American favorite! According to legend, it was created by one of American’s founding fathers: Thomas Jefferson. While it’s more likely its’ origins – as all things pasta – is Italy (and called de lasanis), Thomas Jefferson did certainly make the dish popular in America. It’s been said he discovered the dish during his time in Italy and enjoyed it so much that he brought a pasta maker back home with him and eventually served the dish at the White House in 1802.
